HOFFA Foundation LogoAs part of the 2024 grant cycle, Qlarant Foundation provided $25,000 to The HOFFA Foundation (HOFFA), which promotes individual recovery capital while strengthening the local recovery ecosystem. The grant supports the HOFFA Operations program. This is dedicated to strengthening the organization’s helpline, recovery residence operations, transport services, and community engagement programs.

“The 24-hour helpline serves as a lifeline for individuals in need of treatment for Substance Use Disorder,” commented Operations Coordinator/ Director James Gast. “The connection and transport service has eliminated geographical limitations for individuals with on-demand medical solutions. The objective is to unite individuals with the most successful treatment tailored to their unique circumstances.”

In the face of overwhelming demand for treatment, HOFFA has pioneered a comprehensive approach. By leveraging the helpline, extensive program experience, and a grant-funded transportation service, they assess each individual’s needs to determine the optimal treatment. “This is made possible through our ability to facilitate visits to various treatment facilities, operate a round-the-clock helpline, and provide reliable transportation to the most suitable facility,” continued Gast.

HOFFAHOFFA’s objective is to connect individuals with the most successful treatment tailored to their unique circumstances. The impact of their efforts extend beyond treatment into a sober living-in-recovery home. Here, residents set life and recovery goals, fostering a solid foundation essential to long term recovery. HOFFA’s programs would typically cost approximately $200,000 when staffed by multiple agencies. They streamlined resources—consolidating under a $70,000 budget—aiming to provide a more effective avenue for individuals seeking help to access treatment.

“This initiative aligns with the mission of the Qlarant Foundation,” said Gast. “It significantly enhances the quality of healthcare services available to those seeking recovery. Given the nature of addiction, many lack the means to access treatment. Our program changes this—granting access to health options to those who otherwise would not have it. We can also provide connections and transportation to those who are struggling and have the means to find treatment, but don’t know what the best medical option may be for their specific case.”

HOFFA“Through the integration of all programs under HOFFA Operations,” he added. “We are revolutionizing access to healthcare, ushering in an increase in available options for individuals, regardless of their insurance status. This includes providing options for those who are uninsured and would otherwise have no avenue for treatment.”

By implementing this change, HOFFA not only expands access to healthcare but also empowers individuals to embark on a journey toward lasting recovery.

“The spirit of the HOFFA Operations program ties directly to the Qlarant Foundation mission,” said Qlarant Foundation Board Chair, Lamont Thompson. “HOFFA improves health equity and reinvests in the community by living their mission to bolster the recovery capital of the individual while improving the community recovery ecosystem. The services offered by HOFFA Operations through the Helpline and Program Coordinator achieve this in the most effective and efficient way currently available. With this grant, together we can grow closer to achieving goals set by both of our foundations.”
